Piscina and South Aisle Windows

Piscina
In the south wall of the south aisle are two 13th century piscina. A piscina is a stone 'washing-up basin' that was used to clean the alter vessels.

The one at the east end of the south aisle is quite rare and incorporates a drain which discharges the dirty water on to the consecrated ground outside the church.

The windows in the south aisle are 13th century, two being the most decorative of the church. They each comprise three lancets (a tall, narrow, pointed arch) with moulded mullions.

The windows to the east are the most striking. The hood of the arches are richly decorated with dog-tooth ornamentation. The column tops are also decorated with carvings of foliage.
