The oldest society in the village (Warmington Horticultural Society)
held their annual gardens and crafts show in the village hall on
Saturday 26 July 2008. Being one of the biggest events in the village
calendar it requires careful organising and a big team of helpers to
ensure everything runs smoothly.
With more entries than last year, 469 in total, the event proved to
be as popular as ever with many people exhibiting for the first time.
Common talk among the gardeners present may have been about the poor
growing conditions this spring and the lack of summer warmth, but this
had not reduced the quality of the flower, fruit and vegetable exhibits.
The courgette class was the most popular of the whole show with 15
entries.

The cookery section was very well represented with the biscuits and
jam classes proving very popular. In the handicraft section the
photograph class attracted the largest entry, perhaps an indication of
popularity of digital cameras. Alison Frogley and Janet Putney
shared the honours in the cups and medals, each collecting four awards.
